Fleet Moves Dance Festival celebrates its fifth anniversary this summer with fresh new programming, plus a look back at the practices, people, and experiences that have inspired our dancing in Wellfleet. This summer’s program will take place June 20-25 and will include daily morning movement classes, creative practice workshops, a community jam, and a series of culminating performances. We hope you will join us! More information at www.fleetmoves.org
We’re pleased to announce that Fleet Moves Dance Festival will return July 6-10, 2015 for a fourth summer of exploration, collaboration, and of course, DANCING in Wellfleet. Please mark your calendars and join us!
In February we were thrilled to have the opportunity to spend time in the Vazquez Building, a new space in Bushwick soon to be open to the public. Over the course of the (shortest) month, Movement Party members dove into their solo practices in three-hour exploratory sessions. Since we so often work as a group, we wanted to use the time/space to reconnect with who we were as dancing individuals. Finally, we met on February 28th to share our rehearsal & performance scores, building up to a solo round-robin and group dance party. Below are a few artifacts of our process. Many thanks to the kind folks at the Vazquez for inviting us in!

Dear friends, we are thrilled to be linking to the archive site for the third annual Fleet Moves Dance Festival. Whether or not you were able to be a part of the activity in Wellfleet this year, we hope you’ll check out the archive site, featuring photographs by the talented Whitney Browne.

If you’ve been keeping up with us, you’ve probably picked up on the Movement Party’s adventures over the past year, from Poland, to Brazil, to our beloved Wellfleet, Cape Cod.
You may have noticed our explorations of movement across diverse landscapes and terrains— from ponds, beaches, parking lots and public squares, to abandoned railroads.
You may have also seen us experiment with different vehicles for dance experiences, whether through classes and workshops, performances, or an immersive summer festival.
And, if you haven’t noticed yet, be advised that:
WE ARE ALL REALLY EXCITED!
The key word is ALL. A lot has changed for the Movement Party over the past year. We have grown from a small creative partnership to a collaborative platform including artists from across the United States and beyond. We’ve been meeting monthly to plot our course for our 3rd annual Fleet Moves Dance Festival, an event that has become the culmination of our learning and growing.
We hope you will join us in our endeavors in the coming year. It is a vital and formative season for the Movement Party, and any amount of support from you will make a definitive impact and build momentum around our work during this time.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation here, an in-kind contribution, or joining us for a class or performance. We value your support tremendously, and we look forward to this new year with you.
Sincerely,
The Movement Party
